Description
Carrots - raw or cooked. Carrots are very fibrous in structure and are often cooked to release the sugars. They are a source of Russian and German licorice and are used as candy, sweeteners, and medicinal remedies. Carrots have a deliciously sweet taste. Dried carrots are often used as a chew snack, especially useful for children during teething as they help keep the teeth clean. Carrots contain glycyrrhizin, a substance that is 50 times sweeter than sugar. Tea made from carrots is an excellent way to quench thirst.
