Description
Fruit - raw or cooked. The fruit has a deliciously rich flavor when it is very soft and ripe (almost overripe), but in many cultivated varieties, the fruit is very hard and astringent before it is ripe. In Great Britain, the fruit must be harvested while it is still very hard. This occurs very late in the season (in December or even January if possible), after which the fruits are stored in a cool but frost-free place until they are very soft and fully ripe. The fruit can also be used in pies, pastries, bread, desserts, etc. It contains 25% sugars. A detailed nutritional analysis is available. The fruit can be dried for later consumption. The fruit has a diameter of about 7.5 cm. The skin of the fruit can be dried and used as a sweetener. The leaves are used to enhance the flavor of pickled radish.
