Description
Leaves can be eaten both raw and cooked and have a strong cabbage flavor. They taste best when they are young, as they can become tougher over time. The leaves are usually available from autumn until late spring and can be harvested into winter, except in the coldest seasons. Young flowering shoots can also be eaten raw or cooked. If picked before the flowers open, they are tender and can be added to salads. When cooked, they acquire a delicious flavor reminiscent of sprout broccoli.
