Description

Leaves can be eaten raw or cooked. The fibrous parts of the leaves can serve as a substitute for garlic. These leaves are available from late autumn until the following summer. When used sparingly, they make a nice addition to salads. The bulbs of this plant are used as a seasoning and are quite small with a very strong flavor and aroma. They have a diameter of 10 to 20 mm. The small and awkward bulbils of this plant can be eaten raw or cooked. They have a strong garlic-like flavor.
