Description

The fruit of this plant can be eaten raw, cooked, or dried. The flesh is juicy and has an excellent taste, ideal for making jam and jelly. The color of the fruit ranges from yellow to red and is about the size of a raspberry. The taste can be somewhat less intense and sometimes slightly bitter, especially in cooler summers. The young shoots of the plant can be peeled and eaten raw or cooked, similar to asparagus. They are harvested in the spring when they are still tender and grow above the ground. The flowers of the plant can be eaten raw, and the leaves are used as a tea substitute.
