Description
Fruit - can be consumed raw or cooked. Originally known for its bitter taste, the fruits we tasted contain more astringent than bitter properties, although some cultivars and varieties are not bitter at all. A fruit of this plant, tasted in Kew in October 1991, had a sweet flavor, was slightly mealy, and had low acidity. The fruit can be eaten fresh or processed into preserves, and so on. The fruit typically has a diameter of about 20 mm, but some variants can be significantly larger.
